In partnership with the general contractor Walbridge-Barton Malow we were able to bring the technology portion of this project in on-time and within the tight budget constraints.  The various systems were provided by and installed by our experienced airport technology team.

The North Terminal Redevelopment (NTR) Project was a planned 26-gate terminal complex designed to replace the airport’s older Davey, Berry & Smith terminal complex.

We were the primary technology contractor responsible for the cabling infrastructure in addition to various special systems.  The project featured more than 30 telecommunication rooms throughout the 824,000 square foot terminal.  An end-to-end Siemon Catgeory6 solution was installed to support both data and voice applications.  Each of the special systems rooms (SSRs) or telecommunication rooms was connected with air blown single and laser optimized multimode fiber. 

The project spanned just over a year as we provided timely turn over of the cable plant for each system.  We also partnered with others to install multiple network switches in each SSR throughout the terminal all tied back to multiple core switches in the main SSR.

Computers and displays were installed at ticket and gate counters in addition to arrival and departure screens.  These computers were then connected to servers and eventually airline WAN connections for real time updating.  Multiple T1 and DS3 connections were extended within the terminal to provide high speed connections.

A complete paging system with local gate announcements was also installed.  Visual paging was also provided on the various display monitors.  We also installed all the advertising display monitors in hold rooms, baggage claim and the moving walk ways.

Our team also provided start up assistance by providing riser backbone management and phone/computer cross-connects.  The cable plant was documented and entered into a cable management system which includes floor plans showing the outlets.
